I am looking forward to the next version of Modern Warfare. Who knew that next-gen games could actually render the full range of the color spectrum? This trailer gives evidence that Infinity Ward has been tweaking the Call of Duty 4 engine to create something new. Here is my quick opinion:
The first few scenes are mini flashbacks to the end of Call of Duty 4 where your character shoots the bad guy on the bridge. I am really liking the snow environments and the colorful building/mall environment. The mall scene in particular impressed me as the color saturation in that part alone eclipsed the amount of colors in Call of Duty 4.
I'll be buying Modern Warfare 2 on principle alone. Back in the day, I was able to play the beta for Call of Duty 4 and I knew that it was something special before I bought the retail copy. Knowing the release date of November 10th of 2009 confirms what I was hearing that Infinity Ward was going to release the game this year. Releasing the game this year worries me as I think Activision might be trying to rush their product to keep their stock prices high. In the end, Infinity Ward already has the graphical and game engine working well from their prior game and they have a lot more time to develop another exciting single player and address the multiplayer issues such as net code and uneven perks/guns. The P90 should never be a sniping weapon and the M4 also used to own snipers before the patch.
